    5-1/2″ tall vase by Katherine Ricks.
    This vase comes from Ms. Ricks’ personal collection.  It is made of dark red or brown clay glazed in a tannish olive green color.
    Katherine Ricks (1927-2013) was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana.  She obtained a bachelor of fine arts from Tulane-Newcomb College in 1949 and her master’s degree in fine arts from Newcomb in 1957.  She became an instructor at Newcomb College from 1949-1951 and assisted Sadie Irvine, who was head of the ceramics department.  Later, Katherine had her own pottery studio on Maple Street in New Orleans where she continued making and selling her own pottery.  She also taught school in New Orleans to illustrious art students such as Mignon Faget and Luis Colmenares.

    This piece has no cracks or chips; only “imperfections” inherent to natural pottery making.  Please see all pictures for details.  If you need more photos, do not hesitate to ask.

    Shipping is through Priority Mail or FedEx insured, and is based on weight.  Heavier items will arrive double boxed for safety.  We use both bubble wrap and foam peanuts in our packing process so that your item will arrive safely.  International shipping is through eBay’s International Delivery program and does take longer to arrive.  Priority Mail is also an option for quicker delivery but will cost more.
